ACB books AAO in AP police headquarters
Vijayawada: In a first-of-its-kind case, AP DGP K.V. Rajendranath Reddy has ordered Anti-Corruption Bureau to inquire into allegations of corruption against assistant administrative officer (AAO) Muppirala Balasubramanyam, who works in ministerial department at the AP police headquarters.
Sources told DC that files regarding promotions and other related issues come to the ministerial department. However, instead of dealing with these files, the AAO would keep them pending. When the involved persons approach him for clearing the file, Balasubramanyam would demand benefits for clearing the files.
Sources underlined that the AAO harassed some police staff who could not meet his demands. A few of them took up the issue with DGP Rajendranath, who immediately ordered an inquiry.
It is a first of its kind inquiry in the history of AP Police Headquarters.
According to information, ACB officials have taken Balasubramanyam into their custody and are making inquiries. They would register a case against the AAP on the basis of their investigation.
