18th Mumbai International Film Festival to be held from June 15 to 21
Mumbai: Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Sanjay Jaju on Friday announced that the 18th edition of the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) will be conducted from June 15 to 21 in Mumbai.
He said while the venue for the festival will be the FD-NFDC Complex, Mumbai, MIFF screenings will also be held at Sirifort Auditorium in Delhi, Tagore Film Centre in Chennai, NFAI auditorium in Pune and SRFTI Auditorium in Kolkata.
According to Jaju, a record number of submissions of over 1000 films from 38 countries across 65 languages were received and 2024 edition would see the introduction of documentary film bazaar, aimed at championing documentary films.
Noted filmmakers will take part in more than 25 masterclasses, panel discussions and open forums on the curated topics. Esteemed jury members to include international filmmakers Audrius Stonys, Bharat Bala, Dr Bobby Sarma Baruah, Anna Henckel-Donnersmarck and producers Apoorva Bakshi, Adele Seelmann-Eggebert, Keiko Bang and Barthélemy Fougea will also take part.
MIFF is the oldest and largest film festival for non-feature films including documentary, short fiction and animation in South Asia and a premier international event of the documentary film world, since it started in 1990. It is a biennial event organized once every two years.
MIFF provides a platform for documentary filmmakers from all over the world to meet, exchange ideas, explore the possibilities of co-productions and marketing of documentary, short and animation films and also broaden the vision of filmmakers’ vis-a-vis world cinema.
The festival will provide a platform for more conversations and discussions on the documentary, animation and short films front; aimed at fostering artistic expression and proving to be a creative catalyst to the filmmakers and attendees alike.
