Kakinada: Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu has said in an open letter from his jail cell that the full manifesto of the Telugu Desam would be released soon after his release from jail. “I would work with great enthusiasm to promote the interests of Andhra Pradesh and its people and secure the future of our children,” the former chief minister said.
Naidu had announced a mini-manifesto at the TD Mahanadu in Rajamahendravaram that the party would release its complete manifesto during the Dasara festival. But, in view of his present incarceration in the central jail, this could not be made possible.
“The YSRC government wants to keep me away from the people by putting me in jail. I am not able to be with the people, but I will appear before them in the shape of development and welfare. Nobody can keep me away from people even for a single minute. They want to impose the “corruption tag’’ on me, but they can’t shake my confidence and moral values. Handcuffs can’t detain my aims and objectives and jail would not damage my self-confidence. I did not commit a mistake and I will not commit a mistake; and I will not allow anybody to commit mistakes,’’ Chandrababu stated in the open letter.
The TD chief said that he was not in jail, but in the hearts of the people, and that he wants to put an end to the anarchy and destructive style of governance of the state. “While in jail, my 45 years of political life is moving in front of my eyes. My entire political career revolved around the development and welfare of the Telugu people and the people are witnesses to this.”
Naidu said he has requested his wife and NTR’s daughter Bhuvaneswari to visit the families of those who lost their lives in shock over his “illegal jailing'' and to console those family members.
“My wife had never come out to the people but in view of this arrest, I requested her to go to the people. She would go to the people in the name of ‘Nijam Gelavali’.”
Naidu said he and his party would bounce back and put an end to the present ‘misrule’. “The state government jailed me out of an impression that a gulf would be created between me and the people. But, the people are with me all the time.”
Naidu’s letter "not released from jail", says prison superintendent
The “open letter” to the people, supposed to have been written by the former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu from his jail cell, has not been authenticated by the Central Prison authorities of Rajamahendravaram.
Chandrababu Naidu has been under remand in central prison for the past 40 days. His open letter to the people was released on Sunday. But jail superintendent Rahul told Deccan Chronicle that the authenticity of “any letter released by prisoners should be certified” by the central jail authorities as per the prison rules.
He said no such letter written by Chandrababu Naidu had gone out from the central prison as far as he knew.
