A 30-feet-long whale washed up at the Juhu beach in Mumbai on Thursday night. The whale is said to weigh three-four tonnes.- Forest officials had contacted marine biologists after spotting it when it was still alive and struggling to survive. However, the whale had later died.
- In June last year, a 42-foot-long blue whale was washed ashore at the Revdanda coast, about 17 kms south of Alibaug in the neighbouring Raigad district.
- Earlier this month, carcasses of 45 whales were found washed ashore at a Tamil Nadu beach.
- Extra personnel from Coastal Police unit were also roped in.
- The Juhu Police were pressed into action after hundreds of citizens swarmed to the beach to take photographs.
