Kolkata: A day after two women and a teenaged girl of a family were found dead under mysterious circumstances at their house in Tangra of the city, their post mortem reports have revealed that they were murdered.
According to the post mortem report that the police received on Thursday, Sudeshna Dey and Romi Dey, who were sister-in-laws to each other, died due to excessive bleeding from wounds in their wrists and throat which were slit.
These wounds are homicidal in nature, a police officer said. On the other hand, Romi’s daughter, Priyambada, died of poisoning. This was evident from the colour of her hands and legs which turned bluish.Besides, deep injury marks were found in her head, chest, lips and legs. The cops now suspect two male members of the family, Pranay and Prasun, of carrying out the treble murder. Pranay is the husband of Sudeshna while Prasun is the husband of Romi and father of Priyambada.
The two brothers have been admitted to a private hospital along with Pratip (son of Pranay) after getting injured in a road accident which they staged deliberately to end their lives.
The police found that Pranay and Prasun left their home at Atal Sur Road with Pratip in their car at around 12.50 am on Wednesday after killing their family members.
The two brothers had plans to drop Pratip at a hospital on the way before attempting to kill themselves by rash driving in a road mishap. But Pratip did not agree.
The two brothers, along with Pratip, then travelled to Belghoria Expressway from where they took Kona Expressway before crossing Vidyasagar Setu to enter the city.
