Ajit Pawar Gears Up for Maharashtra Civic Polls
In the Vidhan Sabha polls, the NCP won an impressive 41 seats in alliance with the BJP and Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena as a part of Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra. The performance was a huge improvement in comparison to bagging just one seat in the Lok Sabha elections.

Mumbai: After emerging victorious and turning the tables on his uncle Sharad Pawar in the recently held Vidhan Sabha polls, NCP chief Ajit Pawar has now set his eyes on the upcoming civic body elections in Maharashtra. The Ajit Pawar-led NCP on Friday formed a seven-member core group to further consolidate the party organisation across the state.
State party president Sunil Tatkare said that the core group will focus on strengthening the party organisation, taking policy decisions and implementing the government’s welfare decisions across the state.
The core group comprises party national president and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, working president Praful Patel, state unit president Sunil Tatkare, former Ministers Chhagan Bhujbal and Dilip Walse-Patil, Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif and Food and Civil Supply Minister Dhananjay Munde.
“The main objective of this core group is to plan and implement the major decisions taken by the party for the upcoming local body elections. The core group is also required to draft policies for the organisation building and deciding a slew of programmes for the same. In addition, the core group will focus on implementation of such policies,” said Tatkare.

In the recently held NCP conclave at Shirdi, Pawar had kicked off preparations for the upcoming local and civic body elections, urging party cadres to intensify their efforts following the party's resounding victory in the Vidhan Sabha elections.
Pawar emphasized the need for party cadres to step up their outreach efforts with voters and focus on strengthening the organization at the grassroots level. “The upcoming elections for municipal corporations and local bodies require us to be fully prepared,” he had stated.
