Amid MP clean sweep, BJP secures best ever vote share, highest average victory margin
Bhopal: BJP has achieved many firsts in the 2024 general elections in Madhya Pradesh.
Besides winning all the 29 seats in the state, a first for the party, BJP has also secured best ever vote share and also registered the highest average victory margin in the polls.
The party got a vote share of 59.24 percent in the just-concluded Lok Sabha polls.
“This is the best ever vote share secured by any party in any general elections in Madhya Pradesh so far. This is one of the many firsts the party has achieved in the outgoing LS polls”, state BJP secretary Rajneesh Agrawal told this newspaper on Wednesday.
The party in fact has consistently been recording growth in its vote share in the last three general elections in the state.
In 2019 and 2014 LS polls in Madhya Pradesh, BJP had secured vote shares of 58 percent and 54.08 percent respectively.
On the other hand, the vote share of the Congress has been declining in the last three LS polls in the state.
The party secured a vote share of 32.44 percent, 35 percent and 35.04 percent in 2024, 2019 and 2014 LS polls, the election commission data has indicated.
BJP’s vote share in 2024 LS polls in Madhya Pradesh is almost twice that of Congress, leading the party to post a stupendous show of clean sweeping the elections in the state, Mr Agrawal said.
This also led the party to post the average victory margin of 26 percent in the polls, the highest average victor margin registered by the party in any LS polls in the state so far, according to Mr Agrawal.
The party has registered an emphatic victory in 20 out of 29 seats with margins ranging from three lakh to ten lakh in the 2024 LS polls.
