AP DGP Appoints Officers to Check Cruelty Towards Animals During Bakrid
Vijayawada: To curb illegal slaughtering and transportation of animals during Bakrid festival, Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta has appointed a state-level nodal officer and district-level nodal officers to address the issue in the state.
As per the orders issued by the DG on Tuesday, additional inspector general M. Ravindra Babu is the state-level nodal officer. Additional SP / DSP rank police officers will be the nodal officers at the district level.
The DGP said nodal officers will take steps to prevent illegal slaughtering and transportation of animals in all districts of the state.
He appealed to the public to report to police in case they come across any violation of norms prior to and during the festival, so that action could be taken against them.
