AP: Women Demonstrate Against Naidu for Stalling Rs.14,000 Crore Welfare Scheme Funds
Vijayawada: The YSRC’s women wing held massive protests against Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday, alleging that he stalled the disbursement of funds worth Rs.14,000 crore under the six welfare schemes in AP.
These schemes, they said, included the YSR Cheyutha, Aasra, Kalyanamasthu / Shadi Tohfa etc.
They said this abrupt halt in financial aid came in the wake of a complaint filed by Naidu and his associates with the Election Commission, resulting in serious troubles to lakhs of these schemes’ beneficiaries.
The women also protested against recent spurt in attacks, harassment and violence against YSRC women leaders. Home minister Tanethi Vanitha and Macherla MLA's wife, P Ramadevi, were among those who aced such aggression in recent times, at the behest of the Telugu Desam, they alleged.
The protests were held by YSRC women across the state. Protests were held in Amalapuram and Narsipatnam in Anakapalli, among other places. The women burned effigies of Naidu, brandished placards and raised slogans against the TD chief, branding him anti-poor and anti-women.
In a statement emphasizing their commitment to re-elect Jagan Reddy as chief minister, the women wing state general secretary Vemula Baby Rani said, "We stand united in support of CM Jagan, and on May 13, we will press the fan button to deliver a resounding message to Chandrababu and ensure the victory of our beloved CM Jagan once again."
The entity’s state secretary Dasari Dariabi asserted, "Despite the court's order instructing the government to disburse the funds, Chandrababu conspired to obstruct our access to the money by complaining to the ECI. We must reject this troublesome alliance and pledge our votes to CM Jagan, who will ensure a dignified life for us in the next five years."
As a gesture of solidarity and affection, many women did pal-abhishekam and tied rakhis to CM Jagan’s cut-outs and thanked him for safeguarding their future, their children’s future, and their family's future.
