Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Sunday alleged that the state government has suppressed 24 Commission of Inquiry reports in the last 25 years of its rule.
Addressing a press conference here, Singhdeo said the suppression of inquiry reports smacked of the state government’s motive to shield the offenders.
"In the last 25 years, the Odisha government has instituted 24 Commission of Inquiry, but so far not a single report has been accepted or made public. After forming the government in Odisha, the BJP will make such reports public. Similarly, the inquiry report on Lord Jagannath’s Ratna Bhandar report will also be made public within three months of forming its own government in the state," said KV Singh Deo.
The senior BJP leader further said that the party had raised the issue of mining scam in 2009-2010 and the state government deviated on the issue. The BJP will take this also to its logical conclusion, he added.
“The Odisha government had announced a Rs 300 crore corpus fund to return money to the duped investors. But nobody knows what happened to it. Once the BJP comes to power here, the party will bring the truth within three months and take steps for returning money to the investors," the BJP leader added.
Singhdeo, who was BJP state president for quite some years, claimed that the saffron party was heading towards a two-thirds majority and would form the government in Odisha on June 4.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already invited the people to the oath-taking ceremony in Bhubaneswar,” he said.
The BJD, however, dubbed the BJP’s claim of forming the government in the state as an act of “day-dreaming.”
“They (BJP) are day-dreaming to form the government. The BJD will return to power and form a stable government,” said Manas Bastia, a BJD leader.
