BJD Leader Let Loose Dogs to Attack Lady Journalist in Odisha Capital Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A police complaint was lodged on Tuesday against senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and former minister Raghunandan Das for letting his dogs loose to attack a lady journalist in Odisha capital Bhubaneswar while she along with her cameraman was on a live show near his government quarters.

The incident occurred when journalist Chinmayee Sahoo of Argus News, a leading Odia news channel, was busy covering hush-hush dismantling of illegal structures built in the government quarters of BJD’s powerful leader Pranab Prakash Das.

As the cameraperson had positioned himself in the nearby premises of Raghunandan Das’ quarters for convenience of live coverage, the latter got agitated. He asked the cameraperson and Chinmayee to stop airing live coverage of demolition of his party colleague’s illegal housing structures and leave the place.

Even as the journalists pleaded with the former minister to allow them some time to cover the secret demolition, the minister told them to leave the place immediately and asked his housekeepers to let his two dogs free to attack the scribes.

The lady journalist, as video images show, shouted for help and scurried for cover. She later filed a complaint in the local police station against the former minister.
