Chhattisgarh BJP MLA Bhawna Bohra adopts Kids affected by Kawardha Road Accident

Raipur: Pandariya MLA Bhawna Bohra announced her decision to adopt 24 children, whose parents were killed in a tragic road accident in Kawardha, Chhattisgarh. She has committed to taking the responsibility of their education, employment, and marriage.



On May 21, Bohra visited the victims' village to meet the families and offer her condolences. During her visit, she expressed her deep distress over the incident and stated that it is her duty to support the families in their time of sorrow. While she acknowledged that she cannot replace their lost family members, she said she was dedicated to ensuring a secure future of the children.

The accident occurred on May 20 near Bahpani village which comes under Kukdur police station in Kabirdham district, Chhattisgarh. A speeding pickup truck, carrying more than 30 people, overturned and fell into a 30-foot-deep pit. The passengers were returning after plucking tendu leaves from the forest, and a brake failure is suspected to be the cause of the accident. According to Kabirdham SP Abhishek Pallav, "Twelve women and a man were killed on the spot, while nine others sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital, where six women later died."

The last rites of the victims were conducted at the same location in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma. Eleven people belong to the same family, while the bodies of two women were cremated at their in-laws' house. The state government has announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to those injured in the accident.

Following the tragedy, many leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, and former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, expressed their grief.
