Chhattisgarh CM Disburses Rs 653 Cr Under Mahatari Vandana Yojana

Raipur: Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday released the seventh instalment of Rs 1,000 each to 70 lakh women beneficiaries of the ‘Mahatari Vandana Yojana’, in the state.

A total of Rs 653 crore was disbursed to 70 lakh women in the seventh instalment under the scheme, bringing the cumulative amount to Rs 4,578 crore over the past seven months, a spokesman of the Chhattisgarh government said on Monday.

The monthly financial incentive to the women beneficiaries was released on the occasion of Teeja-Pora, an annual festival being observed by the women of Chhattisgarh.

“We transfer Rs 1,000 each to the bank accounts of 70 lakh women beneficiaries of Mahatari Vandana Yojana in the first week of every month.

Following the path of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikash, Sabka Viswas and Sabka Prayas, the state government is working for all-round development of Chhattisgarh”, Mr Sai said.

The monthly incentive of Rs 1,000 to the poor women in the state was one of the guarantees given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh, held in November last year.

The chief minister also flagged off the ‘nutrition chariot’ on the occasion of Teeja Pora festival organised at his official residence here.

The objective behind launching the nutrition chariot is to create awareness among the people about the importance of intake of balanced nutrition in food.

The state government is observing ‘Poshan Maah’ or nutrition month from September one to September 30.

The dedicated vehicle equipped with audio and visual features will travel to various villages of the state to promote the message of nutrition to the people.
