Cong. committed to equitable wealth distribution: Bhatti

Bhatti lamented that 90 per cent of the country's wealth remains concentrated in the hands of just 10 per cent of the population.

MANCERIAL: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday reaffirmed the Congress government’s commitment to equitable wealth distribution, asserting that wealth would be shared among the downtrodden in proportion to their population, in line with the vision of party leader Rahul Gandhi. He made these remarks while addressing the concluding session of the “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan” meeting in Mancherial, held on the occasion of Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s 134th birth anniversary.

Bhatti lamented that 90 per cent of the country's wealth remains concentrated in the hands of just 10 per cent of the population. He announced plans to develop Mancherial Assembly constituency on par with Madhira and assured that work on the Pranahita-Chevella irrigation project would start soon. He also inaugurated a statue of Ambedkar, laid the foundation stone for a ₹255 crore 'karakatta' (retaining wall), and inspected ongoing works of a new super-specialty hospital and a proposed six-lane road in Mancherial town.

Alleging that the BJP and BRS were trying to create political and economic anarchy in Telangana, Bhatti said the Congress government is firmly focused on fulfilling its election promises. He criticised the BJP for disrespecting Dr Ambedkar and trying to dilute the Indian Constitution.

He highlighted Congress’ achievements including the categorisation of SCs, 42 per cent reservation for BCs, and introduction of welfare schemes like Rajiv Yuva Vikasam to empower unemployed youth. He said the Congress is driving social transformation through initiatives like Young India Schools with ₹11,600 crore allocation and interest-free loans of ₹21,000 crore to Self-Help Groups.

Minister for IT D. Sridhar Babu, who was also present, noted that Congress implemented the SC/ST sub-plan and achieved developmental progress in one year that rivaled a decade's work. He said the distribution of fine quality rice and the Mahalakshmi scheme — offering free RTC bus travel for women and ₹500 LPG cylinders — have received overwhelming public response.

Khanapur MLA Vedma Bojju credited his election to Ambedkar’s blessings and accused BJP leaders of insulting the Constitution. Also present were Girijan Cooperative Corporation chairman Kotanak Tirupati, state coordinator Rudra Santhosh, Mancherial collector Kumar Deepak, DCC president K. Surekha, and senior Congress leader Naresh Jadhav.
