Congress Asks 272 Questions to Modi

New Delhi: The Congress on Friday released a compilation of 272 questions the party had asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last 72 days, titled "72 Days, 272 Questions, 0 Jawab — Bhaag Modi Bhaag" and claimed that due to its positive Lok Sabha poll campaign and its "nyay" guarantees the I.N.D.I.A. bloc was going to get a "clear and decisive" mandate on June 4, when the election results are scheduled to be declared.

Addressing a press conference in the national capital, Congress communications chief Jairam Ramesh said, "We believe that due to our campaign 'paach nyay pachchees guarantee' and the priority we gave to protecting the Constitution as stressed by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, we are going to get a clear and decisive mandate on June 4."

Ramesh pointed out that the Congress had made several complaints of model code violations by the BJP, including 14 against the Prime Minister, to the Election Commission (EC), but little or no action was taken. “We respect the EC, but sadly, impartiality was not seen during the campaign," he said.

At the briefing, Congress' media and publicity department head Pawan Khera claimed that the Congress campaign derailed Modi's "propaganda". He did not tell the country what his government achieved during the last decade.

Congress social media chief Supriya Shrinate, who joined Ramesh and Khera at the press conference, said the BJP campaign on social media was old and repetitive with no traction among the youth, while the Congress social media campaign worked in a big way among the youth.

The Congress leaders also exuded confidence that the Opposition alliance will get a "clear and decisive" mandate on June 4. They claimed that many NDA constituents will be queuing up to join the I.N.D.I.A. bloc.

Ramesh claimed that his party will have a strong performance in several states in which it was wiped out in the 2019 polls.

"Rajasthan, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Telangana, in states where in 2019 we were wiped out, this time you will see we will have a strong performance. In Rajasthan, our performance will be strong and in UP, Maharashtra and Bihar, we will have a strong performance as an alliance," he said.

"I am not saying this sitting here in Delhi. I have gone to these states...our leaders, Kharge Ji, Rahul Ji and Priyanka Ji, have gone to these states. The environment that was there in 2019, especially in these states, has changed in favour of the Congress," Mr Ramesh said, claiming that he will also add Haryana and Punjab to the list of states where the Congress will do well.
