Congress Government Taking Students for a Ride: BJP

Hyderabad: State BJP spokesperson Rani Rudrama sought to know the Congress government’s reasons for failing to bring a ‘school and college fee regularization Act’ and a fee regularization committee before the commencement of the new academic year, which were among its promises ahead of the Assembly elections.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Rudrama asked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who also holds the education portfolio, to explain about any measures he had initiated to check the inordinate fee hike by private educational institutions.

Charging that the BRS government had ruined education in the state with its false promise of ‘KG to PG’ free education, Rudrama said the present Congress government was doing no better. Parents of school children are in agony by the manner private educational institutions are fleecing them, she said.

The BJP leader wondered why the government was not giving grades to schools taking quality of education and fee structure as the parameters.

The Congress in its poll manifesto had promised to establish a residential sports school in each district and constitute a youth commission to extend Rs.10 lakh interest-free loan to educated unemployed youth. It had promised to reopen 6,000 government schools that were closed down due to several reasons. However, the Congress government has failed to honour any of those promises, she said.

Rudrama wanted Revanth Reddy to inform them about when they would start giving free scooties to college-going girls as the academic year is to start in a couple of days.
