Bengaluru: Abducted businessman rescued within hours
Bengaluru: The Sanjaynagar police rescued a 27-year-old businessman within hours of his being kidnapped in the early hours of Friday. The police also arrested five people.
The arrested are Dhanaraj, Naveen, Sanjay, Mahesh and Appu. Appu sustained a fracture as he fell from his bike while trying to escape from the police. Another accused is absconding.
The businessman, Mujahid, a resident of MD Block in Malleswaram, runs a hardware shop in Malleshwara. He had gone near K.R. Market on some work after closing the shop on Thursday night. While he was returning home around 11 pm, a gang of six miscreants on three bikes waylaid him near Anand Rao Circle and kidnapped him on one of the bikes.
“The kidnappers made him contact his elder brother and ask him to bring '20,000 for his release. They asked the brother to come near New BEL Circle, but he immediately contacted the police control room around 2 am. The Sanjaynagar police, who were alerted, rushed to the spot with a team. They arrested Dhanaraj and Naveen, rescuing Mujahid within a few minutes of the case was reported. Of the four other accused, who had escaped, three were traced based on information given by Dhanaraj and Naveen. Of the three, Appu injured himself as he fell from the bike and he was admitted to K.C. General Hospital. We are on the hunt for the absconding accused,” the police said.
Accused Dhanaraj was reportedly working in a shop next to Mujahid’s outlet earlier and had seen Mujahid carrying money on several occasions. He planned the kidnap along with his aides to make some easy money, the police said.
