Police raid spas, massage centres in Nellore
TIRUPATI: Nellore police on Friday raided spas and massage centres in the city on complaints of illegal activities, like cross massages and prostitution.
Addressing media, Nellore DSP D. Srinivasa Reddy said two teams headed by Balaji Nagar circle inspector Ramul Nayak and his Dargamitta counterpart Seetharamaiah simultaneously raided facilities including Rose King Spa in Dargamitta and Rose King Spa and Lotus Spa in Balajinagar.
During the raids, police gathered proof of cross-massages and prostitution at these spas.
“Besides arresting two organisers, the three spas have been sealed. Cases have been booked against the owners under relevant sections. We are verifying whether or not these centres have taken any permissions or licenses,” the DSP underlined.
He said eight victims have been rescued and moved for rehabilitation. They are from different regions, including Delhi, Mumbai and West Bengal. He maintained that police will not tolerate unlawful activities or prostitution in the name of operating spas and massage facilities.
Srinivasa Reddy asked people to inform the police immediately if they come across such unlawful activities in their areas. They may contact the nearest police station or dial 100 for providing information to the police.
The DSP disclosed that their searches will continue for another week to check for any illicit activity.
