MLA suspects TD men’s role in local YSRC leader’s murder
KAKINADA: Gopalapuram legislator Talari Venkatrao, who was assaulted in G. Kothapalli village in Dwaraka Tirumala mandal, after the brutal murder of YSRC village president Ganji Prasad, alleged that that he was attacked by Telugu Desam leaders and activists as he had not seen them any time earlier.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, he suspected the role of TD workers in the murder of Ganji Prasad. He said that as an MLA, he had made attempts to bring about reconciliation between the two groups in the party. However, the two groups headed by Prasad and MPTC B. Bajariyya contested separately and that had escalated the tension.
He said that Prasad used to contact him frequently and he had even attended Prasad’s son’s marriage recently. He said that after hearing the murder of Prasad, he wanted to console the family members. But, some unidentified persons attacked him. According to the villagers, Venkata Rao failed to sort out differences in the rival groups and it led to the killing of Prasad (55) on Saturday.
According to the villagers, Prasad came across a scam in a housing scheme, involving Rs 35 lakh and brought it to the notice of Venkat Rao and exerted pressure on the issue.
Meanwhile, Prasad, a follower of home minister Taneti Vanitha, used to meet her often to discuss party issues.
Ganji Naga Satyavathi alleged that the SI of Dwaraka Tirumala police station had a role in her husband’s murder. She also suspected the involvement of Venkat Rao and Bajariyya.
