Lucknow: Class 3 boy slapped 40 times by teacher for not answering roll call

Teacher caught on film slapping class III student for 2 minutes in UP.

Lucknow: A class III student was given 40 slaps in two minutes by the class teacher in a school in Lucknow because he did not say “present ma’am” when his name was called out during the attendance call.

The teacher has been sacked after the incident was captured in the CCTV cameras in the school.

According to reports, the incident took place on Tuesday in the Saint John Vianny School near SGPGI in Lucknow where the teacher, V. Ritika John, lost her temper when the boy, Ritesh Gupta, did not respond to the attendance call. She is seen slapping the little boy repeatedly — 40 times — and then dragged him by the collar and hit his head against the blackboard. The boy can be seen pleading for forgiveness with folded hands.

When the boy returned home from school, his cheeks were swollen and did not speak to his parents. The following day, the boy’s father went to meet the school principal after which the CCTV footage was scanned.

The teacher was summoned and shown the footage after which she begged for forgiveness for her actions.

The principal, however, refused to accept her apology and sacked her.

The boy, Ritesh, meanwhile, said that he was busy completing his drawing and did not hear the teacher call out his name in the class.
