Hyderabad: 250 kg ganja found in lorry carrying coir, duo arrested

Hyderabad: The Maheshwaram special operations team (SOT) and Meerpet police on Saturday seized 250 kg of ganja from a coconut-coir lorry that they had intercepted at TKR Kaman crossroads, and arrested two persons.

According to Rachakonda police commissioner D.S. Chauhan, the lorry was proceeding towards Chandrayangutta.

He said the arrested accused M. Swamy alias Shiva had come in contact with Raamar, a native of Theni of Tamil Nadu and two absconding persons, Rajesh of Kerala and Chandra Shekar of Tamil Nadu. The gang used to smuggle ganja to Sri Lanka as well

He said the Rachakonda police had seized 3,300 kg ganja and other synthetic drugs worth Rs 7.47 crore. The Rachakonda police, with the largest commissionerate in the country with seven interstate highways, had conducted research into the patterns and methods of ganja smugglers which was helping them seize narcotics consignments.
