Karimnagar police arrest 15 youth who took out rally surrounding MP's house

KARIMNAGAR: The police on Saturday arrested 15 youths who violated restrictions and took their bike rally past the house and office of Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Friday, police commissioner L. Subbarayudu said. He denied that there was any stone-pelting.

The members of the Markaji-Milad committee had taken permission for a bike rally on Friday to mark Milad-un-Nabi. The police gave them permission with certain restrictions and cleared a route map.

Some of the youth went by another route and surrounded the house and office of Sanjay, who is also BJP general secretary.

On a complaint lodged by BJP leaders that MIM activists had attacked the MP’s house, the police registered the case. After analysing CCTV camera footage in the area and questioning witnesses, police said there was no stone-pelting.

He said that on hearing of reports of stone-pelting, police went to Sanjay’s office. They found that some BJP activists carrying sticks came onto the road. They misbehaved with the police who asked them to withdraw and were booked, the police commissioner said.

He said that BJP leaders without verifying facts were blaming the police and indulging in false propaganda on social media. Police will take action against such persons, he added.

AIMIM district unit president Gulam Ahmed Hussain condemned the comments made against the party by Sanjay. He said the processionists did not raise slogans against the BJP. Those involved in the incident were not MIM workers, Hussain said
