SSC question paper leak case: former minister Narayana\'s bail cancelled
Tirupati: Former minister and Telugu Desam leader Ponguru Narayana’s bail in the case of leak of AP SSC Class 10 question paper, granted by the IX additional district judge’s court in Chittoor, was cancelled on Monday.
Chittoor SP Rishanth Reddy said the former minister and eight others had been arrested by the police following a complaint from the DEO on April 27. As per the complaint, the Telugu language question paper was leaked at Nellepalli ZP high school and circulated in WhatsApp groups by unknown persons.
Based on this, a case had been registered at Chittoor I town police station. While all the nine accused including Narayana were produced before the judge on May 11, the former minister was granted bail while the other eight were remanded.
Narayana’s lawyers told the judge that he had stepped down from all his official positions at Narayana group in 2014.
But, during the bail cancellation petition filed by the Chittoor police, the police argued that the custody of the former minister was essential for further investigations into the case. Based on this contention, the IX ADJ court cancelled the bail to Narayana and directed him to report to the IV-AJM on or before November 30.
Narayana is founder of the Narayana Group of Educational institutions that runs over 600 schools and junior colleges in the two Telugu states.
