ACB Traps Deputy Tahsildar, VRO With Rs 7,000 Bribe

Kakinada: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday trapped a deputy tahsildar and a village revenue officer in Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh while they were accepting a bribe of Rs. 7,000 from a farmer.

According to ACB officials, the farmer, Garisikuti Veerraju, had applied to the revenue officials for a certificate that his land did not belong to the government so that he could obtain a bank loan.

The deputy tahsildar, Ahmed of Tallapudi mandal, demanded a bribe of Rs. 10,000 to issue the certificate. After bargaining, the officials agreed to accept Rs. 7,000.

Veerraju then informed the ACB on its toll-free number 14400.

ACB officials led by East Godavari district ACB additional superintendent of police Sowjanya trapped the VRO, D. Srinivas, red-handed while he was accepting the bribe from Veerraju. The officials also arrested the deputy tahsildar.
The two accused will be produced in the ACB Court in Rajamahendravaram.
