Two-Year-Old Girl's Body Found in Sump

Hyderabad: A two-year-old girl, who was missing from her house in Sai Nagar Colony, Jawahar Nagar since October 24, was found drowned in a water sump in an under construction building in Santoshnagar in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to Jawahar Nagar police, one Ajit Kumar from Santoshnagar, went to pull water from the sump in the early hours of Wednesday and found Bottula Divya Shree’s body floating in the water.

On being informed, Manoj, caretaker of the under construction building, alerted the police, who identified the girl from the pictures they had from the missing complaints lodged with them.

According to the victim's mother Bottula Navinata, around 8. 30 pm on October 24, she put Divya Shree to sleep and went to Santoshnagar to get medicines for her husband Bottula Shiva. On her return, she found her daughter missing. The same night she and her husband lodged a complaint with the police, who, suspecting it to be a kidnapping case, registered a case under 363.

Police registered a case of suspicious death under section 174 and are questioning Ajit and Navnita. The girl's body was shifted to Osmania general hospital for postmortem.
