Clashes erupt between TD groups in Tuni

Kakinada: Telugu Desam leaders went berserk at a Kalyanamandapam in Tuni Rural mandal in Kakinada district during the New Year celebrations.

Former finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnnudu and his daughter Yanamala Divya arranged the New Year celebrations at the Kalyana Mandapam. There, two Groups -- Yanamala Krishnudu and Yanamala Rajesh -- came to blows.

Yanamala Krishnudu’s followers were arranging lines for the queues. Meanwhile, some followers of Yanamala Rajesh were trying to go and meet Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Divya to greet them.

The followers of Krishnudu objected to this and forced them to go through another line. The two groups came to blows. Some leaders came forward and pacified the rival groups.

In the evening, the Yanamala Krishnudu group met Ramakrishnudu and asked him to make his stand clear about the two TD groups. Ramakrishnudu said he was trying to pacify the internal conflicts between the two groups.

Meanwhile, roads minister and Tuni MLA Dadisetty Raja (YSRC) started gaining strength in the constituency. TD and Jana Sena leaders are keen on keeping him and the YSRC in the constituency under check. But, group fights within the TD are coming in the way of such endeavours.

Leaders of all parties celebrated New Year in erstwhile East Godavari district. There emerged different statements from transport minister Pinepe Viswaroop and his son Srikanth. Srikanth was visiting the constituency, claiming that he will be the candidate there in the 2024 elections. Minister Viswaroop also declared that he will again contest from the Amalapuram segment.

News is taking the rounds that the father and the son are having a clash of interests. On Monday, however, the father and son jointly celebrated New Year by cutting the cake.

In Jaggampeta, YSRC MLA Jyothula Chantibabu arranged the New Year celebrations. He sought opinion from the cadres and the people during the celebrations about his political future.

Former minister Thota Venkata Narasimham celebrated New Year at his native place Veeravaram village. He said he would contest from the constituency. Telugu Desam leader Jyothula Nehru arranged the celebrations at a Siva temple. He said this New Year would bring cheers to the people. He would not accept the entry of YSRC MLA Jyothula Chantibabu into TD, he asserted.

In Kirlampudi, Mudragada Padmanabham celebrated New Year. His son Giribabu announced his contest in the coming elections. The family has been in politics for two generations. However he did not reveal as to which party would give him the ticket.

In Kakinada Rural, a large number of people greeted YSRC MLA Kurasala Kannababu. Kakinada MP Vanga Githa arranged the celebrations at the Kapu Kalyana Mandapam.
