Visakhapatnam: Twenty passengers sustained injuries, three of them seriously, when an APSRTC bus overturned on the Paderu-V. Madugula ghat road in Vizag Agency on Wednesday evening. The bus was travelling towards Vizag city from Paderu, with 45 passengers on board. When the bus reached Garikabandha, the brakes gave way, causing the mishap. Even though the driver made an effort to minimise the damage, he lost control of the vehicle which then skid off the road and overturned.
All the injured persons were taken to the Government Hospital in V. Madugula and Paderu for treatment. Sources said the bus has started from Paderu at around 4pm, and the mishap occurred due to brake failure when the driver was trying to negotiate a deep curve. The panic stricken passengers expressed their relief at having escaped death. A case has been registered with the Visakha Rural Police, and the investigation is on.
