1.7 kg ganja seized, two arrested
Hyderabad: Two men were caught in possession of 1.7 kilo of marijuana by the Excise and Prohibition officials on Tuesday. The team also seized 22.5 kilos from their supplier, a BHEL employee.
The Excise men were conducting a route watch on Tuesday night when the two accused, Mantena Jeevan and Salman, were caught.
“They had purchased the contraband from Kavali Asif Ali, an employee of BHEL cyber colony from Tellapur, for Rs 10,000 per kilo, which was further packed in small 10 gram packets. Upon their confession, a team raided the house of Asif Ali at Tellapur, recovered 22.582 kilos of ganja and took him into custody,” said the police.
Asif Ali revealed that he bought the ganja from Korra Kiran, a resident of Araku.
The three men, along with a total of 24.282 kilos of dry ganja, were handed over to Ghatkesar police for further investigation.
