11.42 lakh social security pension amount robbed by two-member gang in AP
KAKINADA: Two miscreants robbed ₹11.42 lakh from the social security pensions by beating up two employees of the Pydikonda panchayat secretariat, while they were on the road, in Thondangi mandal on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Thondangi police, a panchayat-1 secretariat woman employee withdrew ₹11,42,500 and a male employee of Pydikonda-2 secretariat ₹8.90 lakh from Canara Bank’s Perumallapuram branch. While they were returning to their village, two unidentified persons accosted them on a bike.
When the employees were a 2km distance away from their village, the gang of two waylaid the employees. “They beat up the male employee and he fell down from the bike. They then beat the woman employee and snatched the bag from her.”
“When they tried to drag the bag from the male employee, the employee pushed them aside and fled from the spot along with his cash bag. The miscreants rode away with the woman employee’s bag.”
Two employees, almost immediately after the incident, informed the toll-free emergency 100 phone number and the Thondangi police station.
The Kakinada crime DSP Rambabu visited the spot on Thursday and started an investigation. The Thondangi police registered a case. The police said they were checking the CCTV footage for clues to the identity of the two robbers.
