Hyderabad: Tollywood financier Karumuri Venkataratna Reddy who was arrested for hosting a ‘rave party’ at an apartment in Madhapur, was earlier involved in 14 cases, including a cheating case registered at SR nagar PS in the year 2009. In one case, he was acquitted and another case was settled in Lok Adalat, while the rest are pending trial. Most of the cases are related to cheating.
Police have identified four peddlers including three Nigerian nationals who were supplying drugs to Reddy and the other two Kapa Bhaskar Balaji and D Murali who were arrested during the Thursday raid. They have also identified 17 consumers who procured drugs from the arrested accused.
The accused have been organising drug parties for a very long time and the list of consumers buying drugs from them could be more in number, reveals the probe. The consumers also include women. The call data analysis and other information could lead to more revelations, police said.
They are also verifying if any other film personalities are also associated with the gang. Further, since they have been operating from an apartment in the IT corridor, police suspect that they were catering mostly to people working in the area. They are in the process of seeking police custody of the arrested accused for a thorough interrogation.
