VIJAYAWADA: A Village Revenue Officer (VRO) died by drowning while swimming in the Munneru rivulet at Keesara of Kanchikacharla mandal in the NTR district on Monday. According to the police, he died after being stuck in quagmire in the rivulet.
Police said, Shaik Imran, who was working as VRO at Gampalagudem mandal, came to Pendyala village to attend a function on October 1. On Monday, he, along with his family members, went to the rivulet for a swim. After he entered the waters, he was swept away by the strong current in the rivulet.
Police rushed to the spot and fished out his body with the help of fishermen. The police shifted it to the Nandigama Government Hospital for post-mortem after registering a case.
