Dharmapuri: Boy kills self after teachers scold him
Dharmapuri: The relatives of a class ten student resorted to protest demanding the arrest of the government teachers for allegedly abetting the boy's suicide in a village in Dharmapuri district on Friday.
Sources said, 15-year-old G. Karthik of Chikkathimmanahalli village in Karimangalam police limits was found dead, two days ago. His relatives found the boy hanging from the ceiling of his house and called the local police.
Karimangalam police rushed to the spot and recovered Karthik's body, which was sent for post-mortem in Dharmapuri government medical college and hospital (DGMCH) here.
Though the autopsy procedure was completed on Friday evening by the forensic experts in DGMCH, Karthik’s relatives continued with the protest for the second day on Saturday, without receiving the body of the boy.
They also told reporters that their protest will continue till the government teachers identified by Karthik's relatives were arrested for his death.
Karthik, a class ten student of a government school of his place, was allegedly scolded by his teachers for not scoring good marks in the monthly test. He was also asked to bring his parents to school and take transfer certificate as punishment for not studying well.
It was alleged that Karthik informed his parents of the issue and was also upset, due to fear of being sending out of the school if he complained more.
The Karimangalam police and officials of other departments held talks with the Karthik’s relatives to end the impasse.
