GUNTUR: A heinous act of a youth trying to rape a five-year-old girl child came to light on Thursday in Guntur district. According to Vinukonda police, a five- year-old girl child was studying Class-I in the government school at Chakarayapalem in Bollapalli mandal of Guntur district. A youth of the village Ketavath Anjaneyulu offered fruits to the girl and taken her into a secluded place on the outskirts of the village. He tried to rape her but as the girl started screaming. He had hit her with a tamarind whip on the back and her face.
She started screaming for help and two women Vakudavath Sandri Bai and Ketavath Suseela Bai came to the girl’s rescue and noticing it, Anjane-yulu fled from the spot. The duo informed the parents and handed over the child. The parents initially took the girl child to a local RMP for treatment but as her condition worsened, they took her to a super-specialty hospital at Narasaraopeta. She was given treatment and doctors there advised teh parents to lodge a police case after admitting the victim to the government hospital.
The parents brought the victim to Vinukonda government hospital for treatment and lodged a complaint with the Vinukonda police. Sub-inspector K. Srinivas Rao conducted an inquiry with parents and the victim, registered a case and shifted the case to Bollapalli police station for further inquiry and action against the accused. The leaders of various political parties and organisations demanded stern action against the youth by the police.
