Gang that stole high-end bikes busted, 4 held

HYDERABAD: The Osmania University police on Wednesday busted a gang that stole high-end bikes from across the city, arresting four persons in the process and recovering six stolen bikes.

The suspects were identified as Syed Feroz, a repeat property offender, K. Shyam Sundar, D. Akash and a 17-year-old juvenile.

The police said they targeted parked bikes and stole them by using hot-wiring techniques. They were planning to sell the stolen bikes in Odisha, through an accomplice identified as Mani Mohan Shikari, of Malkangiri district in Odisha.

The arrests took place during a routine police check on Tuesday after the suspects could not provide registration documents and evaded questions posed by the police.

The police took them into custody over suspicious behaviour and upon interrogation, they admitted to having stolen the bikes.

Feroz, who was identified as the brain of the gang, was last arrested in a theft case in 2022 and lodged at Cherlapally central prison, where he came into contact with Mani Mohan Shikari.

Upon their release, the duo set up the gang and roped in others to steal bikes.
