Visakhapatnam: Naval sailor films woman, slapped
Visakhapatnam: A naval sailor was badly roughed up by a 30-year-old woman and her family members for filming her while she was taking bath at her residence at the ex-servicemen Colony near the Sriharipuram area under Malkapuram police station limits in Vizag city.
Though the incident occurred on Thursday night, it came to light on Friday morning after the woman lodged a police complaint. The angry woman slapped the sailor named Sandeep Narwal and beat him up with footwear after he was caught red-handed while recording her video.
The 30-year-old Sandeep Narwal, who works as leading mechanical engineer in submarine INS Sindhusastra, was arrested on Friday afternoon by the Malkapuram police at the Naval Quarters.
Malkapuram inspector D. Kesava Rao said around three days ago, Sandeep had recorded video of the woman while she was bathing in her house, located on the road in an isolated area.
Sandeep took the videos after climbing a boundary wall and removing glass panes of the ventilator. While he was getting down from boundary wall, some locals noticed him but Sandeep managed to flee from the spot.
The locals noted his vehicle number and informed the woman’s family about it. They suspected that he would return and waited for him. On Thursday night, around 9 pm, Sandeep came to the area and upon questioning by the locals; he claimed that he was looking for a house on rent.
Suspecting that he would repeat the crime, the woman’s brother told her to go into the bathroom and lock from inside. Sandeep climbed up the boundary wall of the house and started to film her with his mobile phone.
The family members and locals, who were hiding nearby, caught him red-handed and thrashed him. They later handed him over to the police and the woman lodged a formal complaint. “We have arrested the sailor,” the inspector added.
