Man held for bid to murder Jeevan Reddy
HYDERABAD: The Banjara Hills police arrested one Prasad Goud, husband of former TRS sarpanch Lavanya of Kalleda village, Nizamabad district, for his alleged attempt to attack TRS MLA A. Jeevan Reddy.
Police claimed Prasad Goud conducted a recce of the MLA’s house for two days and entered Jeevan Reddy’s five-storey house in Vemuri Enclave on Monday night, managed to reach the third floor and pointed the gun at Jeevan Reddy.
“It was 8.30 pm on Monday when I heard a person abusing me. As I came out of my bedroom, I was shocked to see Prasad Goud holding a pistol and pointing it right at me. As I was trying to explain to him that everything would be resolved, my gunmen nabbed him and handed him over to the police,” Jeevan Reddy said. “Prasad Goud’s intention was to kill me, he was armed and had come in his car. Another firearm and a knife was seized from his car,” the legislator said.
The MLA lodged a complaint with the Banjara Hills police who took Prasad Goud into custody and seized the firearms, knife and his car.
Jeevan Reddy had suspended Prasad Goud’s wife Lavanya alias Swaroopa, when she was the acting sarpanch of Kalleda, Makloor mandal of Armoor Assembly constituency, for allegedly misappropriating `11 lakh government funds. Since then, Prasad Goud developed a grudge against Javeen Reddy and recently purchased an illegal pistol, an air pistol and an automatic knife and was waiting to attack the legislator, police said.
The police also collected CCTV footage of Prakash Goud conducting the recce at the legislator's house, source disclosed. A police team left for Armoor to get Prasad’s wife Lavanya and two of their followers for questioning.
According to police sources, Prasad Goud confessed that he had a grudge against the MLA after he suspended his wife and was waiting for an opportunity to eliminate him. The police are investigating whether someone else is also involved in the conspiracy, sources revealed.
