Salem: A 11-year-old boy, studying class six, attempted suicide by slitting his hands while playing the ‘blue whale challenge’ video game in Namakkal district.
The boy is the son of a farmer from Paramathivelur in Namakkal district and studying in a private school. His parents admitted him in a hospital.
Police said that they had not received any complaint on the issue. Parents said that schools should take up the onerous responsibility of educating and counselling students on the dangers of playing this online game. This is the third such bizarre instance of kids being induced to suicide by playing this game that has surfaced in Tamil Nadu in the past one week.
