Visakhapatnam: In a dramatic turn of events, a routine enforcement operation led to the seizure of a staggering 420 kilograms of dry cannabis near Kiltampalem in the Vizianagaram district. The contraband was discovered after a high-speed chase and a subsequent road accident involving the van carrying the illegal substance.
Acting on a tip-off, SEB personnel, led by inspector S. Dharma Rao, attempted to intercept the van at Boddavara locality. However, the driver, in an attempt to escape, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn near Kiltampalem.
Upon inspection, the SEB team discovered 50 bags of cannabis hidden within the van. The estimated value of the seized contraband is around Rs 50 lakh.
One individual linked to the smuggling attempt has been apprehended, and further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend any additional accomplices.
