Hyderabad: Kidnapped bizman rescued
HYDERABAD: A 50-year-old businessman kidnapped on Thursday evening was swiftly rescued by Sultanbazar police after tracing the car used in committing the offence near Saroornagar police station. The accused have been taken into custody.
According to police, pending bills of Rs 45 lakh had led to the kidnap of Raji Reddy by a gang led by accused Koteshwar Rao. Rao and Reddy are in same profession.
In 2017, Reddy got the contract for laying underground Reliance fibre cable from Janagam to Suryapet road (8 km) and Narsapur to Mallampally (1.7 km). Reddy gave a sub-contract to Rao, who was unable to finance the work. Thus, Rao took the help of another contractor B. Lela Venkata Krishna Murthy. Rao and Murthy completed the work within the prescribed time and requested Reddy to clear the bill.
But without clearing it, Reddy entrusted to them another sub-contract from Jagityal to Metpally (12 km). Rao and Murthy completed this work too within the prescribed time and sought clearance of the total Rs 45 lakh pending bill.
Sultanbazar inspector K. Subbarami Reddy said, “On Thursday, the accused, along with five other accomplices, came to the city to sort the issue. Both parties met in a hotel room and held discussions regarding clearance of the pending bills. As no agreement could be reached, the accused decided to abduct Reddy”.
Following the kidnap, B. Narender Swamy, who had come with Reddy, alerted police by dialling 100. An alert was issued to all police stations in Hyderabad and Rachakonda commissionerates.
Police spotted the vehicle near Saroornagar police station and rescued Reddy. The kidnappers were arrested, though the main accused Koteshwar Rao could not be nabbed.
