Tumakuru man behind PU Chemistry paper leak: CID
Bengaluru: CID officials probing the PU second year chemistry question paper leak have zeroed in on a few middlemen who are suspected to be behind the leak. CID sources said that Kiran alias Kumaraswamy, a resident of Tumakuru and an LIC agent, was behind the racket.
“Based on the analysis of WhatsApp messages, the police teams had detained five people, including two engineers, whose children are second PU students. They revealed Kiran’s name and said that he was instrumental in circulating the question papers. The hunt is on for Kiran,” an official said.
Also, a retired lecturer, Shivakumar, who was involved in a similar case earlier and was questioned by the CID team three days ago, has gone absconding. This has raised suspicion among the investigating teams that he too could be involved in the question paper leak.
Investigations revealed that the students who got the questions papers had also collected money from other students. “The students, who initially received the question paper, have also sold it to their friends and classmates for Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000. But it is not clear whether they had direct contact with those who are behind the paper leak,” the official said.
