Dindigul: Boy tries to slit throat of teenager
Dindigul: In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old boy tried to slit the throat of a girl using a blade near her house at Ashok Nagar in Dindigul district on Monday evening. The boy immediately turned the blade on himself and caused injuries to his neck.
The police rushed them to Government Rajaji Hospital for treatment where sources said they were out of danger. The boy from Appauram, who was studying in standard XI in a government aided school, followed the girl, studying Class X in a government school in Natham, when she was returning home after school.
The boy intercepted her when she reached Ashok Nagar and picked up a quarrel with her. A police source claimed that the boy was trying to force her to accept his love proposal. However, when she refused, he draw a small blade from his packet and slit her throat, the police said.
He also injured his throat using the same blade. Both of them fainted on the spot and locals informed the police who provided first aid to them at the Natham government hospital and then shifted the duo to GRH, Madurai. The police have registered a case.
