HYDERABAD: A 28-year-old woman constable died by suicide at her rented residence in Kalvagadda of Shamshergunj on Wednesday morning.
The woman, identified as D. Surekha, was engaged to be married two days ago and was unhappy, said house owner Srinivas, who broke open the door after her sister contacted him over Surekha not responding to the doorbell.
Surekha is a 2018 batch police constable from Kandukur village in Rangareddy district.
According to the police, she had gone to her native place and got engaged on May 1, following which she returned to the residence along with her sister on Tuesday. After the sister, Sarita, left for work around 9 am, she locked her bedroom door and died by suicide, they said.
A case of suspicious death under Section 174 of the CrPC was registered and her body was sent to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
