Tribal woman hit by car after she rejects proposal
ANANTAPUR: A man tried to run his car over a tribal woman after she rejected his proposal for marriage at Boyapalli in Kambadur mandal of Anantapur district on Wednesday.
According to police, Mythili, a native of Ambarajupeta in B.K. Samudram mandal, had recently shifted to Boyapalli in Kambadur mandal of Kalyandurgam mandal after her mother got transferred to the area.
B. Bhaskar, also a native of Ambarajupeta and relative of Mythili, proposed to her. She rejected the proposal pointing out that relation-wise, he is a brother to her. But Bhaskar kept mounting pressure on her.
On Wednesday, Bhaskar called Mythili for a chat and reiterated his proposal. She again reasoned with him and left the place on her scooter. However, Bhaskar chased her in his car and hit her scooter in an attempt to run over her. Mythili suffered serious injuries and fell into nearby bushes. Onlookers tried to catch him but he sped away in his car only to hit a lorry a few metres away. As a result, the car fell by the way side. Locals caught Bhaskar and handed him over to police.
Mythili has been shifted to a private hospital in Anantapur for treatment. Police said they have registered a case against Bhaskar for trying to murder the woman.
Doctors say Mythili is out of danger.
