Five spas booked for rule violation
Hyderabad: Filmnagar police and the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) raided five spas over two days and booked them for ignoring rules on installing CCTVs and employing therapists with valid licences. Filmnagar inspector M.G.S. Ramakrishna said the police had raided the spas named Bodhi, Senses Tranquila, Meghavi, Ruan Thai and Canas Luxury and booked the managers and owners.
Following this, Jubilee Hills ACP K, Hari Prasad issued notices to spa owners to update their documents and follow court orders.
Abusing cops: Man gets 20-day jail
Hyderabad: The V Special Metropolitan Magistrate at Manoranjan Complex, Nampally, sentenced 22-year-old Pagadala Pranav to 20 days in jail for misbehaving with the police and creating a nuisance on the road. Narayanguda police said the incident occurred when he was walking his dogs near Old MLA Quarters.
On August 30, Pranav was crossing the road with his two dogs when a Narayanguda police patrol vehicle stopped nearby. Pranav alleged that the vehicle could have hit the dogs and he started shouting at the cops and abusing them. A video of the incident went viral on social media. Narayanguda station house officer U. Chandra Shekar said a case was registered against Pravan and he was produced before the court.
Three held for attention diversion
Hyderabad: Filmnagar police arrested three persons for diverting a businessman's attention and fleeing with '4 lakh that he had kept in his two-wheeler. Police said the accused, Afroz Khan, who is involved in similar cases in the past, and Ibrahim Khaleullah, had deliberately entered into an argument with the victim, C. Gautham Yadav, while he was riding his two-wheeler at Ambedkarnagar Sabza Colony. A third accused, Ahmed Khan, a history-sheeter, opened the two-wheeler’s dickey and made off with the cash, Filmnagar inspector M.G.K. Ramakrishna said.
One held for attempt to murder
Hyderabad: The central zone task force and Gandhinagar police arrested one Kothapally Dinakar alias Chinakar, 24, for an attempt to murder case and for peddling ganja. Police said Dinakar used to rob people by flashing a blade. On September 1, he attacked on Bandari Bhanu Prakash in CC Nagar, Secunderabad. Dinakar had 20 cases of peddling ganja, police said.
8 held for online cricket betting
Hyderabad: The west zone task force and Borabanda police arrested eight persons involved in online betting on the India-Pakistan Asia Cup cricket match and seized '48,300 in cash and eight cell phones from their possession. They were arrested at a function hall in SPR Hill, Borabanda. Borabanda inspector Kamalla Ravikumar said the accused claimed they were using a betting app.
Couple held for cheating edu firm
Hyderabad: Central Crime Station police arrested Nandigam Rani and Nandigam Dharmaraju for allegedly cheating an education agency of over '7.27 crore by helping it expand in Andhra Pradesh. Police said Rani promised the complainant good returns and a share in their school. She later avoided making the payments and refused to meet the complainant. The duo claimed to have political connections and legal support and made dire threats, the complainant said.
