Smugglers held with two tonnes of Ganja
Hyderabad: The TS Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TNAB) in a joint operation with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) caught a five-member Maharashtra-based gang and seized two tonnes of ganja from them, as well as a lorry in which they were transporting the contraband, at Jadcherla, 70 km from here.
The gang was transporting ganja from Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh to Pune in Maharashtra, concealed in a custom-made compartment in the lorry. The main accused Hasan, who ordered the consignment, was absconding, TNAB SP D. Sunitha Reddy.
For transporting the narcotic, Raju Ambadas Shinde, Balaji Arjun Kale, Nikhil Nandakumar Ghawali, Madhukar Arjun Kale and Sanjay Ravindra Chowhan, all hailing from Osmanabad district, Maharashtra. The ganja was packed in 104 two-kg packets. The gang had a car travelling 20 km ahead of the lorry to check for police presence.
