Hyderabad GITAM student Renu Sri Last Moments Before Suicide Video Retrieved

Hyderabad: An 18-year-old first-year engineering student died by suicide at GITAM University’s building at Rudraram in Patancheru on Friday afternoon. The victim, Renu Sri, succumbed to her injuries on the spot.

The reason behind her taking the extreme step is not known. Renu Sri's parents, reportedly residing in the Madhapur, rushed to the hospital where her body was taken, after being notified of the incident.

A video taken of the suicide captured the student’s last moments. It appeared to show Renu Sri sitting on a balcony wall on the fifth floor and apparently contemplating for a few moments. In the background, students are heard discussing the situation, and their voices turn to screams of horror when she takes the extreme step.

The video has been widely shared on social media, leaving many in shock that the onlookers instead of raising an alarm or immediately seeking help for the student merely filmed the incident.

Patancheru police said that they responded to a distress call around 4.30 pm and found her body with multiple injuries. The body was taken to a hospital in Isnapur for postmortem. Investigation is underway.
