Hyderabad: Man who killed wife deported from Dubai

The police had already arrested four of his family for conspiring and assisting the man in killing the victim, Zeba, 30.

Hyderabad: The Dubai authorities on Wednesday deported a city-based man who allegedly killed his wife and escaped to UAE in May. The man was identified as Akbar Ali Khan alias Hyder, 33, an NRI working in Dubai and a resident of Farhathnagar in Dabeerpura of Old City.

The police had already arrested four of his family for conspiring and assisting the man in killing the victim, Zeba, 30.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) V. Satyanarayana said that the accused had killed his wife and later packed her body in a cardboard box and placed it in a big plastic bag before dumping it near a garbage mound.

His family members Mahboobunnisa Begum — mother, Maqsood Ali Khan and Imran Ali Khan — his brothers, assisted him in killing and disposing her body.

Another brother Khaiser Ali Khan, who was arrested in May, had bought flight tickets for Hyder and helped him escape.

After he fled to Dubai, the Dabeerpura police wrote to the Regional Passport Office and asked them to impound his passport. The authorities informed the Indian Embassy officials after impounding his passport and the embassy took up the issue with the Dubai authorities.

“The Dubai police immediately apprehended the man after the communication was passed on to them with the necessary documents. He was brought to the city by a four-member team of the Dubai police and handed over to the Dabeerpura police,” the DCP said.

He explained that there were some differences between the couple and Zeba was staying with her parents in King Koti for a few years.

Hyder Khan does odd jobs in the United Arab Emirates and shuttles between India and UAE frequently. “He came to India in mid-May and contacted Zeba over phone. He took her away saying he had bought sarees and money to be donated to the poor,” the police said.

When Zeba did not return, her mother approached the Narayanguda police and lodged a complaint. The police registered a missing woman case and began tracing her. On May 20, locals spotted a plastic bag dumped near the garbage bin near the Dabeerpura nala from which a foul smell was emanating. They informed the police, who rushed to the spot, opened the bag and found the body of a burkha-clad woman.

“After killing her, he wrapped the body in a plastic bag and sealed it,” Dabeerpura inspector Venkanna Naik said.
