Visakhapatnam: Two women drowned in the Sarada River while taking a holy dip to mark Karthika Somavaram in the Kasimkota mandal of Anakapalli district on Monday.
According to the police, the deceased were identified as A. Manga, 35, and M. Lakshmi, 40. The police reported that a group of five women went to the river to bathe, and while they were in the water, two went deep and drowned, while local people rescued the other three. With the support of the locals, the police retrieved the bodies from the river. A case has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing.
