Man arrested while tried to sell a part of elephant tusk for Rs 15 lakh
HYDERABAD: The south zone task force and forest officials on Thursday arrested a man who tried to sell a piece of an elephant tusk to a customer here.
The accused, a 40-year-old beef shop owner Mohammed Rehan alias Deepak Thapa, a native of Nepal and resident of Rahmathnagar here was arrested in Mohammed Nagar, Malakpet.
He said he had come in contact with a Mumbai-based poacher, Mirza Saquib Baig and had purchased the tusk from him and tried to sell it to a customer for Rs 15 lakh Chakravarthy Gummi, task force DCP, said.
