HYDERABAD: The special operations team of Cyberabad police nabbed three persons at Gandipet who impersonated as astrologers and duped people instilling fears of superstitions. The arrested included Ernala Saraiah, Gittha Shiva Kumar and Gittha Sagar. They also seized a car, Rs 84,00 in cash and other material from their possession. The three were handed over to Narsingi police for further action.
According to police, based on a tip-off about movement of suspicious persons in Kokapet of Gandipet, SOT sleuths tracked them down.
On inquiry, it was found that the accused, claiming to be astrologers from a religious place in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, targeted innocent people by saying that they were in trouble. They comforted the victims that all their troubles could be warded off with special pujas for which they charged exorbitantly.
